Desford's pink tribute

Desford will take to the stage at the Albert Hall with a slightly different uniform this year.

Desford in action

The Desford Band will be sporting a slightly different uniform at the National Championships this Saturday in an act of support for baritone player Kate Culshaw.

Missing

Kate, who has been the band’s solo baritone for a number of years and a member of the all female band ‘Boobs and Brass’, will be missing from the Nationals line up as she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

To show that their thoughts are with Kate, Desford players will be wearing bow ties in the Breast Cancer awareness colour of pink.

We are all thinking of her and hope that her treatment is a success and that her recovery is a speedy one – helped by a great result for the band!Desford Band

Thoughts and prayers

A band spokesman told 4BR: "Whilst we are delighted to welcome former member Carole Hirst back to play in Kate’s absence, our thoughts and prayers are with Kate and Andy at this difficult time."

They added: "We are all thinking of her and hope that her treatment is a success and that her recovery is a speedy one – helped by a great result for the band!"
