East Riding looking forward to Area hurdle

Four new recruits join East Riding of Yorkshire Band as they prepare for a busy 2013.

East Riding

The East Riding of Yorkshire Band recently delivered its first concert performance of the 2013 season at the Anlaby Park Methodist Church as part of their ‘Ignition’ appeal to benefit the local community.

Slick playing

The programme was well received with Ian Scott, ERYB Musical Director telling 4BR: "There was some slick playing and good sounds being made!"

Solos were provided by from James Kerridge, Jim Johnson, Mike Waudby and Mike Hedley, with music ranging from the march, ‘Army of the Nile’, to ‘Strike up the Band’ and ‘Suite Gothique’.

New signings

The band has also announced the appointment of four new players over the winter period, with Karen Wain (solo horn), Gill Rice (cornet), Shane Foster (BBb bass) and Gary Hallas (percussion) joining the ranks.

The band is now working towards its appearance at the North of England Regional Championship in Darlington in March.
