Thoresby Colliery Band has announced the appointment of their new resident Musical Director, Steve March.

Rankings move

2013 has seen the band move further up the world rankings following consistent high class performances at Butlins, Midlands Area and All England International Masters.

They told 4BR that they are delighted to welcome the experienced musician to their organisation.

Welcome

Band Chairman, George Kennedy told 4BR: "The band welcomes Steve to our new home in the heart of Clumber Park. I'm sure that with his guidance and hard work, the band will continue to move forward."

Steve is also thrilled by the prospect of working with an ambitious top flight band. "I've always enjoyed working with Thoresby as a player. They are a brilliant group of people and an extremely good band with outstanding soloists."

Opportunity

He added: "The opportunity to work with them in this capacity is one I couldn't resist. I'm excited by the challenge ahead and the band's ambition to be innovative and successful."
