The City of Bradford Band has announced a brace of exciting new signings as they start their preparation for the forthcoming Fleetwood and Northern Open contests later this year.

Claire Westacott has officially joined on flugel horn following her move from Hammonds Saltaire, whilst Alex Crisp comes in on solo horn from Clifton & Lightcliffe Band.

Welcome

MD, Leigh Skipsey told 4BR that he was delighted to welcome the signings to the ambitious band.

"It’s always good to be able to attract players of this calibre. Claire has been playing with us for a little while and has fitted in wonderfully well and Alex is going to be a real star.

He’s just 17, but the talent he showed when I heard him play with the National Youth Band showed me just what a great player he is developing into."

We are now in the very happy position of being able to field an extended band for concerts and with the Fleetwood and Northern Open contests to look forward to these are exciting times for City of BradfordLee Skipsey

Happy position

Lee added: "We are now in the very happy position of being able to field an extended band for concerts and with the Fleetwood and Northern Open contests to look forward to these are exciting times for City of Bradford Band."
