James Garlick has been appointed the new MD at Boarshurst Silver.

Boarshurst

The Boarshurst Silver Band has announced the appointment of James Garlick as their new Musical Director.

Forward

And talking to 4BR, the former solo trombone at Brighouse & Rastrick and co-founder of brass ensemble Austonley Brass and Electrohorn, believes he has the determination and drive to march the North West band forward.

"I’m really pleased at being appointed," he said. "I’ve had close links with the band for many years and look forward to working with them and with the band club."

Asset

With a strong background of teaching music at the JRNCM, and with ten years of playing experience with the Halle Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Camerata Orchestra and Opera North amongst others, the band also hopes James will be a great asset.

Band Secretary Janet Payne added: "We have always enjoyed his rehearsals and when James expressed an interest in helping the band to regroup and move forward we acted. With his knowledge it was an offer the committee and band were pleased to accept."
