Bardic recognition for Hawken

There will be ancient celebrations to enjoy in the village of St Dennis next month as the band's MD, Darren Hawken becomes a Bard of the Gorsedh Kernow in recognition of his services to Cornish Music.

Darren will become one of 16 new people welcomed into the 500 strong Bardic College in an initiation ceremony that will take place on Saturday 1st September in Newquay.

Success

During his tenure as MD with the Cornish band, Darren has led them to the First Section National Championship title as well as victories at the West of England Regional Championship and Bugle Contest. The band also came runner-up at the Senior Trophy earlier this year.
