J36 Brass has welcomed a number of new signings as they prepare for their First Section qualification battle at the North of England Regional Championships in Durham this weekend.

Talented youngster Sophie Richardson joins the back row cornet team, the third member from Trinity School in Carlisle to join the ranks, whilst Helen Robertson and Tony Gagg come in on percussion and cornet after recently moving back to Cumbria.

Jordan Tweedle joins on BBb tuba, making the trip over the border from South Scotland, whilst husband and wife duo Graham and Janet Hopkins join on EEb tuba and cornet after a number of years away from banding.

We are raring to go, especially after giving two excellent recent concerts — the first in Keswick and the second at the J36 North West Auction Markets which made over £1600 for various local charitiesBand spokesperson.

Raring to go

Band spokesperson John Miller told 4BR: "We are raring to go, especially after giving two excellent recent concerts — the first in Keswick and the second at the J36 North West Auction Markets which made over £1600 for various local charities.

We're delighted with all our new additions which will strengthen the band and we hope to consolidate our place in the first section at Durham which will be our first time at this level."
