The rejuvenated success of Newmains & District Band has been recognised in formal fashion by the great and good of their proud council.

Newmains
The success of the band was formally recognised and celebrated at a civic reception

The outstanding achievements of the Newmains & District Band, the current Scottish Second Section Champion have been celebrated by the Provost Jean Jones and North Lanarkshire Council at a formal Civic Reception.

Held at the council headquarters at Motherwell the event recognised the amazing success achieved by the rejuvenated band since being reformed just four years ago.

Success

During that time the band has twice become Scottish 'Band of the Year', two-time Scottish Champion and Fourth Sectional National Champion of Great Britain. The band will make its third consecutive appearance at the Cheltenham finals in September.

At the event the band performed pieces from their recent winning programme at the Northern Counties Contest before enjoying a buffet meal in the company of their proud hosts.

Thanks

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "We would like to thank Provost Jones and the North Lanarkshire councillors, in particular local councillor Robert McKendrick, for their continued support of the band."
