Festive treats at Littleport as they look towards 2020

There was a great festive atmosphere at Littleport Band's last concert of 2019 — with the wise man in the middle giving out some gifts...

Littleport Band
There was plenty to celebrate for the band on the night...

Littleport Brass celebrated the end of the decade with the presentation of their 2019 annual awards during a wonderful festive concert given at their local church.

Presentations

The presentations were made by MD Ian Knapton, in full Christmas attire (far right first row), with his 'Conductor's Player of the Year' accolade going to percussionist Nathanial Revell, who also picked up the 'Player's Player of the Year' award too.

The hard fought 'Section of the Year' went to the excellent horn section, whilst there was a wonderful presentation made to Band President and Bb tuba Bill Sharpe (far right standing).

75 years

After 75 years of playing, Bill has decided to retire from playing and he wished to do this at the concert alongside his two sons Simon and Graham and with all his other family in the audience.

Bill will however continue in his role as an indefatigable Band President and keeping an eye on his two lads who play in the band.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "It was a wonderful evening that heralded some very exciting plans for the start of a new decade."
