Customers care as Littleport gets welcome cash back book token

Littleport Brass has been given a cash injection boost thanks to their local community.

The cheque was presented to the band at one of their recent rehearsals

Littleport Brass was recently presented with a cheque to help with their musical activities after customers of their local Co-op Main Street store suggested the group should receive some cash.

The store sells books, toys and ornaments donated by customers on a stall with the funds given to local good causes and organisations out forward by them.

One such customer, Joan Sharpe, suggested Littleport Brass as a worthwhile recipient. Joan is also the wife of Littleport Brass Band President Bill, and mother of two players, Graham and Simon.

Good use

The band rehearses every Wednesday evening in their newly refurbished bandroom where Co-op Manager Matt Thorogood and Team Manager Angela Allum handed over the cheque which will be put to good use.

Matt gave a short speech about their charitable efforts to local causes nominated by their customers, whilst in reply a band spokesperson told 4BR: "It's great that we are getting the support from the local community.

Along with a cheque for £1000 we received from the Tesco in Ely at the end of last year we now have funds to look at purchasing much needed percussion equipment."
