The Welsh Lives of BTM Band

The BTM Band has been featured on the ITV programme 'Welsh Lives' following their appearance at the Welsh Open Championships in Newport earlier this year.

The programme focussed on the band's preparations and performance at the Welsh Open

The Bedwas, Trethomas & Machen Band (BTM) has been featured on the ITV Wales television programme 'Welsh Lives', which has just been broadcast.

It followed the band as it prepared and then performed at the Welsh Open Entertainment Contest which took place in Newport in February.

Spotlights

'Welsh Lives' spotlights people, organisations and communities, their pastimes, hobbies, passions and ambitions with a sympathetic understanding and context — from a Normandy Second World War veteran and a little girl who escaped Nazi invasion, to those working in the busy Swansea Market, a blind town crier, a sculptor based in Llandudno and an Atlantic Ocean rower.

The band stated: "We were delighted to have been asked by ITV Wales to feature on this programme, and hope that our 30 minutes of fame showcased what our unique brass band movement is all about!"

Focus

This episode presented by Adeola Dewis, focussed on the BTM Band and its performers — from conductor Jeff Hutchinson and his lifelong family connection to principal cornet Seamus Gallagher, the husband and wife team of Tim and Kirsty Jones and others.
