Stand up for Verwood

Verwood Concert Brass just missed out at Harrogate recently, but they are still delighted nonetheless.

Verwood

After a powerful and highly enjoyable performance at the Lower Section National Finals in Harrogate a couple of weeks ago, some members of the audience rose to their feet and gave Verwood Concert Brass a standing ovation of John Rutter’s 'Suite for Brass'.

Just missed out

Many thought the band had secured top position but they narrowly missed out by two points to Wellington Brass from Telford.

We worked hard and involved the local community back home in fund raising events to raise money for the trip. We now look forward to a successful season in the Second SectionDavid Johnson, Verwood MD

Delighted

However, David Johnson, Verwood’s Musical Director was clearly delighted with the bands performance. He told 4BR: "Verwood is a very small town in Dorset and to compete against and beat bands from cities around the UK is no mean feat."

He added: "We worked hard and involved the local community back home in fund raising events to raise money for the trip. We now look forward to a successful season in the Second Section."
