50 years of remarkable Poole attendance

Roy Poole's 50 years of remarkable service to the brass band movement has gained well deserved recognition.

Alder Valley

Over 50 years of dedicated service to the brass band movement has been deservedly recognised by both Alder Valley Band and the Southern Counties Area Band Association, with presentations made to the remarkable Roy Poole.

Presentations

In a concert in June with Rushmoor Male Voice Choir, the band presenting Roy with a framed selection of photographs representing his many years of service, whilst SCABA, represented by Ian Carter, recognised in excess of 50 years service to brass banding with the presentation of their own Certificate of Merit.

Long career

Roy’s early musical career focused on his fine tenor singing voice before further developing his involvement with brass and military bands.

As a teenager he purchased a side drum and joined the 5th Army Cadet Force of the Queens Royal Regiment, where he went on to become a very fine Drum Major. In recognition of his proficiency he was appointed to lead many of the premier parades throughout the South of England.

It was during his service with The Queens Royal Regiment that he was invited to play with Alder Valley Brass, where he remained an important member of the band’s percussion section.

Roy enjoyed considerable success during the band’s development and still keeps in close contact, following their progress with great interest4BR

Still involved

Roy enjoyed considerable success during the band’s development and still keeps in close contact, following their progress with great interest.

He has toured extensively throughout Europe and was for many years the long serving Chairman of the Tadley Band. He is still an active member of the Hampshire Police Band.
