Denton raise cash

The Denton Band has helped raise funds for a great cause.

Denton Brass recently took to the stage at the local Festival Hall in front of a capacity audience to perform the sixth annual Peter Gee Memorial Concert.

Packed

A packed audience was enthralled throughout the first half and were absolutely delighted at the concluding piece, 'The Good The Bad and The Ugly', complete with Colin Myers (principal cornet) and Lydia Payne (flugal) dressed up as the gunslingers and MD Johnathan Davies being shot and carried off on a stretcher by St John’s Ambulance Brigade!

In the secold half, Denton’s training band took to the stage and performed four pieces led by Matthew Gee. The training band were met by great applause, and their programme was well received.

Auction

Paul Keogh, Chairman Denton Brass told 4BR: "Following the interval the senior band performed three pieces of music prior an auction, which raised over £1,100 for the Christies Against Cancer Charity."

Paul added: "Fortunately this year the auction did not take quite as long as in previous years because most people were in a generous mood and did not take much winding up to increase their bids. The second half culminating in two encores of 'African Funk', the music written for Brass Band Aid."
