Foden's were certainly kept busy last weekend — with more to come

It was a very busy and successful Whit Friday weekend for Foden's Band as they combined contest and concert success.

Following their sixteenth Tameside Championship title success in the past 17 years, the band travelled to Macclesfield the following day to perform at the National Association of Brass Band Conductors Competition, before rounding things off on the Sunday with another concert accompanied by no less than 90 players packed into the ranks of their Youth and Junior Band at Parr Hall in Warrington.

Hectic but fun

Principal Cornet Mark Wilkinson told 4BR: "It may seem like a hectic weekend, but it was also so much fun too. We are very proud of our commitment to the Tameside Whit Friday contests and were also delighted to be part of such a major conducting competition.

And there was no better way to round off the weekend with a fantastic concert with our young Youth and Junior Band players — their energy and enthusiasm revitalised us all after two late nights!"

Norwich trip

The busy schedule continues however, with Foden's travelling to Norwich Citadel to appear in concert with the Cawston Band (7.30pm) this Saturday.

Speaking about the concert Ian Clarke, Chairman of Cawston Band told 4BR: "We are delighted to welcome Foden's to Norwich for what promises to be an entertaining evening.

We very much hope that as many people as possible take up this opportunity to come and hear one of the UK's best brass bands."
