Tullis in TRIM after debut appearance

Tullis Russell Mills is making sure its stays TRIM for the years ahead

Tullis

The Tullis Russell Intermediate Band (TRIM Band) recently gave its first public performance.

Entertained

The band performed at a local fete in the grounds of the Preston Hall Care Home where they entertained residents, staff and visitors.

The band was formed in March this year with the view to attracting players who had perhaps played at school and then had given up, players who had not played for some time and adult beginners who had never had an opportunity to learn when they were younger.

The idea came about when we were talking to various people about starting our new youth band and the comments we heard — I wish I had been given the chance to learn an instrument was heard many timesSteven Craig

Wish

Coordinator Steven Craig told 4BR: "The idea came about when we were talking to various people about starting our new youth band and the comments we heard — I wish I had been given the chance to learn an instrument was heard many times".

Success

The initial aim was to have a small ensemble playing at one of the senior band’s Christmas concerts but such has been the success that the 21 strong ensemble are now looking forward to a short break for the summer before getting back to rehearsals for what looks like a busy Autumn and Christmas period.

Three levels

Members of the TRIM band have also helped out the senior band at marching engagements in June and July and the Tullis Russell organisation now supports three levels of bands – with Senior, Intermediate and new Youth ensembles.
