The Yorkshire Youth Brass Band has announced that it will rehearse at a brand new venue for their next musical gatherings on Saturday 7th February and again on Sunday 22nd March.

The new venue is Saddleworth School, High Street, Uppermill, Oldham. OL3 6BU.

Hub

Course Administrator Alison Childs told 4BR: “We are delighted to take the opportunity of holding our courses at Saddleworth School. The area is a real hub for brass bands, and the facility is easily found and has great facilities.”

Looking forward

The school itself is also looking forward to welcoming its new arrivals.

"Everyone is looking forward to welcoming the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band,” Headteacher Matthew Milburn to 4BR. “We hope that this will be the start of a long and fruitful relationship not only with the school but with the wider community of Saddleworth.

I’m genuinely excited to see the young musicians of Saddleworth and beyond take advantage of the opportunity to perform with this wonderful organisation and I look forward to seeing and hearing the band in action very soon."

The school’s Head of Music, Garreth Beckwith agreed: “Hosting the YYBB is a really exciting project for the area and the school. We are all really looking forward to future developments."

Alison added: “That event, led by Prof Nicholas Childs will once again prove to be very special, with workshops for lower brass, horns and cornet spotlight, led by Black Dyke stars Gary Curtin, Ben Dixon, Jonathan Bates and Richard Marshall as well as host of other Black Dyke players.”
