Grimethopre set for youth launch

The Grimethorpe Besson Youth Band will be launched this weekend!

Come follow the band at Grimethorpe

After a remarkable response, the Grimethorpe Besson Youth Band is to be launched this weekend.

The band received over 60 applications to join the band – a figure that has given them a wonderful headache as Grimethorpe’s Gareth Crane told 4BR:

Amazing response

"It’s been an amazing response," he said, "...and one that means we will be working twice as hard to ensure everyone gets the opportunity they have wished for. Although we haven’t been able to reply to each individual applicant as yet, we’d like to assure everyone that applied that they have been accepted."

He added: "Everyone at Grimethorpe is really looking forward to Saturday and can’t wait to start work on what we see as our future. The children will receive brilliant tuition from the very best we have to offer. They won’t be disappointed!"

Although we haven’t been able to reply to each individual applicant as yet, we’d like to assure everyone that applied that they have been acceptedGareth Crane

More

Gareth has also urged more applicants to get in touch. "We have had superb support from Besson and Salford University, both of whom are who are just as excited as ourselves and so supportive of this long term venture."

He added: "We would like to remind any young brass musicians who have not already registered that they are more than welcome to attend on the day. We want to encourage as many young players as possible to come along and be part of this progressive venture."
