Organisers release details of the forthcoming 7th US Open in Illinois.

Brass Bands International has announced details of the 7th US Open Brass Band Championships, hosted by the Prairie Brass Band and in partnership with Buffet Crampon.

Largest field yet

10 bands from eight states and Canada, will take the stage at the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois on Saturday, November 7th — the largest field yet esembled for the contest.

Doors will open at 8:00am and the contest will run until 4:30pm.

The following bands are to take part:

Brass Band of Central Florida
Eastern Iowa Brass Band
Fountain City Brass Band
James Madison University Brass Band
Madison Brass Band
Milwaukee Festival Brass
Motor City Brass Band
Ohio Brass Band
Prairie Brass Band
Weston Silver Band

There is a host of awards and trophies as usual with a special award of a new Besson instrument for the 'Best Soloist' and a specially engraved Besson cornet for the 'Best Cornet Player'.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Judges for this year’s event will be announced shortly, as well as the list of additional sponsors. This will be the largest and most exciting US Open Championship in history.

Tintwistle Band

June 9 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a 2nd horn player to help complete the team. . We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm under the baton of our MD Jim Henson, at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
