Grange Moor Patrons enjoy Grange Moor

13-Oct-2009
Grange Moor Band provide Patrons entertainment with help from Brighouse top man Stephen Wilkinson.

Grange Moor Band recently presented their first patrons concert at St Pauls Church in Mirfield.

Dazzled

The evening featured guest soloist Stephen Wilkinson, principal cornet of the Brighouse & Rastrick. Michael Howley conducted a challenging programme featuring several arrangements by Leigh Baker, including Lionel Richie's 'All Night Long', 'Eventide' and 'Deep Harmony' which was well received by the audience.

Stephen dazzled the audience with solos including 'Tucker', 'Glorious Ventures' and 'The Watermill'.

Patron scheme

The patron scheme was introduced a year ago with the aim of encouraging the local community to support the band, including helping the Grange Moor concert band to develop and teach younger players.

The concert marked the debut on solo cornet for David Jenkinson, who has recently left Queen Elizabeth Grammar School.
