Harper Kingdom of Dragons found in Gwent

26-Nov-2009
Two anniversary projects come to fruition in Gwent - thanks to Philip Harper.

As the Greater Gwent Youth Brass Band approach their 50th year in 2010, the band and Gwent Music Support Service have told 4BR that they are delighted that two of their Anniversary projects have now come to fruition.

Dragons

The band’s commissioned work, 'Kingdom of Dragons' by Philip Harper is now available to all bands, whilst their celebratory CD of the same name has now been released too.

The piece was commissioned by Gwent Music Support Service with additional funding from Ty-Cerdd Music Centre Wales to celebrate the 50th anniversary in 2010 of the formation of the Gwent Youth Brass Band.

'It is a super work and one that can be played by many bands long after the Regional series is over'

~ Alun F Williams

Delighted

Alun F Williams told 4BR: "The music represents the four unitary authorities which make up the County of Gwent and the Gwent Music Service is also delighted that the piece has also been chosen as the Second Section Regional test piece for 2010.

It is a super work and one that can be played by many bands long after the Regional series is over."
