Results: 2009 Scottish Youth Championships

The Scottish Youth Championships took place on Sunday where Carnoustie took the premier honours on a great day of music making.

Sunday saw all the fun and games of the Scottish Youth Championships, where the evidence of future Scottish banding renaissance was confirmed with a mixture of excellent playing and highly encouraging green shoots of development.

Premier title

The major Premier title went to the superb Carnoustie & District Youth conducted by Michael Robertson, who finally ended West Lothian’s long reign as the best youth band in Scotland, whilst there was an equally fine winning performance in the Senior Section from Cumnock Academy under the direction of Craig Anderson.

Glory

The Development Section saw Perthshire Youth under George Annan take the glory, whilst in a highly entertaining Novice Section the top award went to Hawick Saxhon directed by Rob Hume.

Tintwistle Band

June 9 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a 2nd horn player to help complete the team. . We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm under the baton of our MD Jim Henson, at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
