Results: Leicester Open

They'll be dancing in the streets of Ratby and singing the odd alleluia after their headline victory at Leicester.

Ratby Co-operative came out on top at the Leicestershire BBA Contest held on Sunday, retaining their 'Leicester Open' title for the second successive year.

First place

Ratby Co-operative Senior, under the direction of Mike Fowles, took first prize in the Open Section with their performance of 'Dances & Alleluias', beating Thoresby Colliery and Kidlington Concert. The award for 'Best Instrumentalist' was presented to their solo euphonium by adjudicator Alan Morrison.

First Section

In the First Section, Barton Town’s rendition of 'Triumphant Rhapsody' found favour with adjudicator Mark Wilkinson, who commented that he felt there was some quality playing on show in this section and that he was impressed with the overall high standard.

Second Section

The Second Section crown went to Oddfellows Brass under MD Robert Boulter, repeating their success from the previous weekend at the Leamington contest.

Adjudicator Steve Pritchard-Jones also judged the performances in the Third Section, awarding first place to Weston Brass.

Secretary Lesley Bentley and the LBBA committee thanked all volunteers and stewards that helped the event to run smoothly, as well as all the bands that took part throughout the day4BR

Unregistered

The Fourth and Unregistered Sections were performing to adjudicator Marie Smith, who awarded the Fourth Section prize to Rolls Royce (Derby) and the Unregistered Section Shield to Ratby Juniors and their proud MD Becky Moss.
