Death of Elland stalwart

The death has been announced of Eda Billington.

Elland Silver Band has reported the passing of Eda Billington on Thursday February 4th.

70 years

Edna was the beloved wife of Kenneth Billington treauser of Elland Silver Band and mother of secretary Kathleen Harrison.

Edna was involved in the Elland Band for nearly 70 years and was an active member of the Halifax Brass Band Association and could be seen at many band contests and concerts preparing refreshments and organising events.

Supportive

She was also very supportive during the years of the Elland Christian Evangelical Fellowship Alliance Youth Band and later the Elland Silver Band.

In the 1980's and 90's, Edna along with her husband, rang a weekly prize bingo session for the pensioners of Elland raising hundreds of pounds for the Elland Band.

Edna was particularly interested in the young people within the band worldElland Band

Young people

Edna was particularly interested in the young people within the band world and in her later years nothing pleased her better than hearing about how the Elland Youth Band under the leadership of her granddaughter Samantha Harrison was progressing.

Edna always had a constant supply of raffle prizes on hand to help the band with it's fund raising.

She leaves her husband Kenneth, son Kenneth, daughter Kathleen, grandchildren Samantha, Valerie, Chantelle, Pamela, Graham and great grandson Cameron. She will be greatly missed by all and the band sends deepest condolences to all the family.

Funeral

The funeral takes place on Monday February 15th at 12 noon at Park Wood Crematorium Park road Elland. Family flowers only but donations in lieu to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital London (Dermatology Department)
