Griff heads to Marshfield

Jon Griffin will lead Marshfield Band at the West of England Regional Championships in Torquay.

Marshfield Band have annoucned that Jon Griffin will be leading their assault at the forthcoming West of England Regional Championships in Torquay.

Experience

Jon played for the former Sunlife Band and enjoyed spells as the Musical Director of many bands in the South West — most recently with Bristol East and Kingswood Band.

Jon is Head of Brass at King Edward’s School in Bath and is also playing a big part as one of the organisers of the Sun Life Stanshawe Reunion concert being held later in the year.

New arrivals

Marshfield has recently welcomed several new players too: Jimmy Bell comes in on soprano, Ashley Keyte joins on solo cornet, Chris Turnball on 2nd horn, Julie May on 1st baritone, Jim Mitchell on 2nd baritone, Dave Alderman on solo trombone, Clare Fraley on 2nd trombone, Simon Pepper on Bb bass and Alex Llewellyn on timpani.

Robin Furstenheim and Mark Chapman have moved onto different instruments to accommodate the new players.

A spokesperson for the band told 4BR: "We are delighted to have Jon leading Marshfield. With all the experience he brings, and the latest additions to the band, we are eagerly awaiting the chance to hear the results of the hard work that both he and the band have been putting into rehearsals."

June 11 • We are currently looking for a flugel horn player to help complete our team. We are a 4th section contesting band, with a busy schedule of contests and engagements coming up throughout the year.
