There is a welcome birthday tribute to the great Derek Garside on Chris Helme's popular radio programme.

Chris Helme's weekend afternoon brass band programme, 'Sunday Bandstand' recently featured an 80th birthday celebration of the great cornet player and conductor Derek Garside.

One hour tribute

Aired between 2pm/3pm (UK time) on Phoenix FM 96.7, last Sunday’s programme was a one hour tribute to the former principal cornet player at CWS (Manchester) Band between 1947 and 1972 and without doubt the finest cornet player of his generation.
