Broadstock Premiere

While at the festival Matthew will be performing the ‘World Premiere’ of Brenton Broadstock’s new euphonium work called ‘Under Capricorn’. This piece written for Matthew depicts various climates and areas of Australia and will be accompanied by the U.S Air Force Band from Washington D.C, one of the worlds finest wind bands.

The premiere with the Air Force Band will be a real highlight...Matthew van Emmerik

On speaking to 4BR Matthew stated: ‘This will be a great trip which gives me an opportunity to catch up with many low brass colleagues from all parts of the world. The premiere with the Air Force Band will be a real highlight, I have admired the band for many years, so it will be quite special.’

Alumni

Matthew will also be involved in an Alumni low brass group made up of ex-students from the RNCM, conducted by Steven Mead. The group includes some of Matthew’s friends and former mentors — James Gourlay, David Thornton and Adam Frey.

Finally, Matthew's new CD under the Summit records label 'Utaki — The Sacred Grove' receives its International release at the Festival.
