Hatfield disqualified from Bolsover Contest

The Hatfield Band has been disqualified from their second place finish at the Bolsover Festival of Brass contest following the completion of Council investigation.

The Hatfield Band has been disqualified from their second place finish and has been requested to return all prizes that they won at the recent Bolsover Festival of Brass contest following the completion of an investigation into the events surrounding the alleged racial incident during the band’s performance of ‘Hello Dolly’.

Disqualify

In a press release to 4BR the Council states: "The investigation into the alleged racial incident at our Festival of Brass event has now concluded and we have reached a decision to disqualify Hatfield Band from the 2012 competition and have requested all prizes be returned to us.

We have also requested that they provide explanations on what actions and measures they have taken to eradicate this type of behaviour before they are allowed to enter into the 2013 competition."

They added: "It is also important to note that we take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and do not support this type of behaviour and will not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment."

Amended results

The amended results now sees Yorkshire Police promoted to second place in the First Section with the ‘Best Soloist’ award going to xylophonist Aaron Curcher of Blidworth Colliery for his performance of ‘Blue Rondo a la Turk’.
