Test Valley help with a special place

Test Valley Brass has helped raise money for a very special place in memory of a fallen hero.

Test Valley Brass recently rose over £600 for the ‘Adam Hoofing Hut’ charity event held at the local Lights Theatre near to their home in Ludershall.

Band Chairman, Peter Heslop presented a cheque for £619 to the charity set up for the wellbeing of injured Marines and their families in the memory of Royal Marine Commando Adam Robert Brown who was killed in action in Afghanistan, aged just 25.

One of Adam's dreams was to own a beach hut at Mudeford in Dorset and on a number of occasions upon returning from tours of duty, would use a hut, which he called ‘a very special place’ for some much needed rest and recuperation.

Worthy

Peter Heslop, told 4BR: "I’m delighted to have made the presentation to such a worthy cause on behalf of everyone at Test Valley Brass. Every day our soldiers lay down their young lives to bring peace to the world and all too often it ends in tragedy."

He continued: "Hopefully we have helped in some small way. We feel very honoured to have been able to help."

Indebted

Royal Marine Stuart Rason, who received the cheque on behalf of the charity said: "We are indebted to Test Valley Brass for all the hard work they have put in to raise this money."

He continued: "The hut has recently been purchased, but needs a lot of work doing and this will really help move this forward. Hoofing is the term used by marines for something that is great, fantastic or brilliant hence the name Adams Hoofing Hut."
