Urban Play

Buffet Group, which produces the global leading Besson brass instruments, has certainly been keeping its high tech ear to what is happening ‘on the musical streets’.

All ages and abilities

With their renowned reputation for product innovation coupled with outstanding quality of production, Buffet Group has also maintained a keen interest in providing the type of educational tools that help players of any age and ability.

That is certainly the ethos behind their free ‘Urban Play’ — an interactive ‘app’ that is aimed at encouraging musicians to practice, improve and above all, enjoy playing their instrument.

‘Urban Play’ is something of a karaoke player for wind instruments — except it’s all music you've never heard before, for now at least...

How it works:

‘Urban Play’ is available for free on all smartphones and tablets, and provides a brilliant way for musicians of all levels to practice on original songs, over funk and hiphop rhythms sections, each with 3 levels of melodies on digitalized sheet music.

The melodies shown on the score have been pre-recorded by world renowned artist playing one of Buffet Group's instruments, including tenor horn, cornet, tuba, trombone, clarinet, saxophone and many more.

‘Urban Play’ enables you to play along with the melody you hear, or mute it to practice alone. You can even ‘loop’ the bars you need to work on by pressing and dragging a finger across the selected measures!

Once you're confident, you can give the harder melodies a go by downloading the more advanced levels 2 and 3 in exchange for filling out a simple sign-up form.

Huge success

Aurelian Amzallag, Buffet Group Online Marketing Manager & Events Coordinator told 4BR: “’Urban Play’ has already been a huge success, with many music teachers using it to give their teaching a much more up to date, proactive feel.

Buffet Group is also getting lots of requests from musicians who want to submit songs to Urban Play too.”

Competition

Aurelian added: “With this in mind, and to get people even more involved, the Urban Play team just launched the ‘Share & Win’ contest whereby users send the names of new users they've gotten to sign-up by emailing a final list to: urbanplay@buffet-group.com by January 10th, 2015.

If you're among the top 10 recruiters you can win an exclusive prize.
