Williams lays first conducting foundations

The move to Wales sees Cory euph star Glyn Williams undertake conducting ventures to Tylorstown and Lydbrook.

Euphonium virtuoso Glyn Williams is certainly starting to build long term musical foundations in south Wales following his recent move to Cory Band.

With a conducting CV that also boasts considerable success over the past decade with Marsden Silver, it has come as little surprise that his baton skills have also been in demand since his appointment.

Ambitious

Glyn has now accepted two opportunities to work with ambitious bands close to his new home in Bridgend, starting recently with 2013 First Section National Champion Tylorstown, now making a mark at Championship Section level.

Glyn will lead the Rhondda valley's band towards their appearances at the Welsh League contest in Burry Port and the Wychavon Festival of Brass event in October.

Looking forward

Band Manager Kevin Jones told 4BR: "We are really looking forward to working with Glyn as the contest season restarts after the summer break."

Meanwhile, from October, Glyn will be making the short trip over the River Severn to the Forest of Dean where he will work with West of England top flight outfit Lydbrook in preparation for the Torquay Contest on 7th November.

Important

A Lydbrook Band spokesperson added: "We are also looking forward to working with Glyn in preparation for the important SWBBA contest.

His success with Marsden Band over the past decade or more has been remarkable, and we are sure his experience and talent will give us a huge boost."

Naturally I have to fit this in with my commitments at Cory, but I'm sure these new links to ambitious bands such as Tylorstown and Lydbrook will hopefully be beneficial to everyone concernedGlyn Williams

Links

Meanwhile, Glyn told 4BR: "As well as my playing, conducting is a real passion of and it has been great to hear from a number of bands enquiring about my availability.

Naturally I have to fit this in with my commitments at Cory, but I'm sure these new links to ambitious bands such as Tylorstown and Lydbrook will hopefully be beneficial to everyone concerned."
