The Yorkshire & Humberside Brass Band Association will be running their annual own-choice 'Test-Piece & Hymn Tune Contest' backed by sponsorship of Geneva Instruments at Holmfirth Civic Hall on Sunday 6th November.
Guest soloist prize
Geneva Instruments will also be offering the services of one of their endorsee artists as a guest soloist at a future concert with the overall winning band in Group A and Group B at the contest. Awards are also presented in each individual section.
The event is the only own-choice test piece contest in the area during the Autumn and is aimed at providing local bands with a contest that limits their travel logistics.
Urge support
President of the YHBBA, Peggy Tomlinson, told 4BR: "The Association is most grateful to Geneva Instruments for continuing with this partnership. YHBBA is the last brass band association in Yorkshire, and we are doing our best to stay alive.
I would urge bands to support this event, get the date in their diaries and send their entries in at their earliest opportunity."
