Jaguar Land Rover gain fusion success with Arts award

Jaguar Land Rover Band secures a Christmas bonus with 'Grants for the Arts' funding for innovative fusion project.

Jaguar Land Rover
Christmas Arts boost for Jaguar Land Rover Band

The Jaguar Land Rover Band will be embarking on a multi-arts project in 2017 that will bring together a 'fusion' of Big Band and traditional brass band music.

It follows the successful application for an Arts Council England 'Grants for the Arts' award worth £13,530 towards a project totalling £25,530.

Unique fusion

This will see the provision of a unique project which will link the talents of American trumpet star Chad Shoopman with the skills of professional Big Band players and the brass band abilities of Jaguar Land Rover Band in music from the pen of arranger and composer, Peter Wraight.

Ten of some of the most famous Big Band numbers, from greats such as Maynard Ferguson, are to be scored and performed — creating a new sound palette for the iconic music.

CD recording

Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, the project will involve a CD recording alongside workshop and performances scheduled for mid-2017.

Band Manager, Simon Archer told 4BR: "The project promises to create a new fused sound that we hope will inspire audiences and players alike.

We are excited to work and learn from world renowned professionals who are at the top of their fields of music making."

Thanks

He added: "Thanks must be given to both Carole Crompton for her first class support and advice in helping us successfully fund this project, as well as, ongoing help of Brass Bands England."
