Richmond Brass makes long awaited return

The sound of brass banding can once again be heard along the banks of the River Thames in Richmond.

The Richmond Brass Band has brought brass band music making back to the London borough

After decades of absence, years of discussion and months of hard work, Richmond Brass Band, originally formed in 1937, has returned to musical life with their first rehearsal taking place in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames early this month.

Cross section

With a broad cross-section of the community present, everyone had their own story to tell; with regular players mixed in with professional musicians and some that were picking up their instrument after a long break.

However, under the baton of MD Victoria van Uden, all the different levels of experience were put to one side as they once again enjoyed the thrill of brass band music making.

Such was the success that the band is now preparing for their first public event before the end of this year and is actively seeking out concerts4BR
