New musical outlet opens in Tewit

A new brass band in Tewit aims to provide a new musical outlet for brass band talent.

Tewit
The new Tewit Silver Band will aim to open up new musical avenues for players of all ages

A new brass band is being formed with the announcement that Tewit Silver Band is to start rehearsing at the wonderful facilities of the well-established Tewit Youth organization based between Leeds and Harrogate.

New outlet

Led by conductor Martin Hall, the aim is to provide a musical outlet for players of any age to join together and make music — especially those who have finished their youth band commitments due to their age.

Martin told 4BR: "It's often the case that once a young player reaches the maximum age limit for the youth bands they do not continue to play. Hopefully the new band will provide an exciting new option to carry on, as well as giving brass playing parents an opportunity to play alongside their children."

He added: "We are also hoping to attract other players from the area into the organisation who are perhaps not attached to a band and are interested in playing again. This new venture will ensure that Tewit as a whole will continue to go from strength to strength."

Hopefully the new band will provide an exciting new option to carry on, as well as giving brass playing parents an opportunity to play alongside their childrenConductor, Martin Hall

Once a week

Tewit Silver Band is to be managed and financed separately from the Youth element, and is to rehearse once a week on a Monday evening with the intention of entering the Area Championships in 2018.
