Elland to host free workshop with help from Cory stars

A grant from the Norman Jones Fund has enabled Elland Silver Band to run a free workshop day with a little bit of help from the stars of Cory Band.

The workshop day will be led by stars from Cory Band

Elland Silver Band has received a grant from the Norman Jones Fund, administered by Brass Bands England, to fund a free workshop for young brass and percussion players led by stars from Cory Band.

Very best

It will be held on Saturday 27th January at Halifax Minster, with Elland Silver Youth Band MD, Samantha Harrison, telling 4BR: "Preparations are already underway for the workshop which will now enable our young musicians and musicians from local bands, schools and music centres to experience tuition from some of the very best players in the banding world."

Open to all

The workshop (12.30pm until 2.30pm) will be made open to any young brass and percussion players who have reached Grade 3 standard or above to come and join with members of Elland Silver Training Band.

Tutors from Cory will also deliver an advanced level workshop to members of the Elland Silver Youth Band, later in the afternoon.
