Wincorp celebrate Grenland victory

Swedish champions celebrate comprehensive Grenland victory under the baton of Garry Cutt.

Windcorp

Windcorp Brass Band and conductor Garry Cutt have been celebrating after wining the Elite Section of the Grenland International Brass Festival this weekend by a massive five point margin over runners-up Leyland.

Great triumph

Chairman Andreas Kratz told 4BR:" We are of course very happy with the outcome of this event. This is a great triumph for the band and a confirmation that we are on the right track. The Grenland International Brass Festival, which is a quite unusual contest divided into three parts, exhibits a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and we enjoyed every minute of it."

Having Garry Cutt in front of the band was a very pleasant experience for us too, both socially and musically. We do hope that this was not our last collaboration with himWindcorp Band

Smile on the face

The band were very pleased that Garry Cutt had taken them to victory: "Having Garry Cutt in front of the band was a very pleasant experience for us too, both socially and musically. Always a smile on his face, Garry made us focus on the basics of playing together and to follow what is written in the score, letting the music speak for itself. We do hope that this was not our last collaboration with him."

Local help

The win couldn't have been achieved without some local help though, and Andreas added: "We are also grateful to our MD Alexander Hanson who prepared the band in such a thorough way before Garry arrived. Everyone in the band has contributed to this victory in a truly committed way. We see all members as “key players” and as such they have prepared themselves very well before entering the band room."
