Trio of joiners for Woodfalls

South West challengers announce a trio of new signings ahead of their National assault next month.

South West Trains Woodfalls Band has announced three new joiners ahead of the upcoming National Championships of Brass Bands in October.

Dave Gotts joins the cornet section from Woodfalls Concert Brass and takes over from Sam Atherton who left the band in order to accept a position to study medicine at the University of Nottingham.

Meanwhile, Martin Dean joins the trombone section also from Woodfalls Concert Brass. Martin takes over from Lloyd Bartlett who has had to step back from the band due to external commitments. Martin renews a trombone partnership with long time friend, Scott Stewart from their time as members of Test Valley Brass.

With the introduction of these players into the band, SWT Woodfalls are now looking forward to competing at the National Championships with a renewed enthusiasm under the direction of Melvin WhiteSWT Woodfalls Band

Revised team

Finally, Ian Frost joins on Eb Bass from Solent Concert Brass to complete a revised bass team which involves Adrian Clarke moving from Eb to Bb bass.

Contest Secretary Simon Persin told 4BR: "With the introduction of these players into the band, SWT Woodfalls are now looking forward to competing at the National Championships with a renewed enthusiasm under the direction of Melvin White."

Tintwistle Band

June 9 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a 2nd horn player to help complete the team. . We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm under the baton of our MD Jim Henson, at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
