Bandsman of the Year

The 'Bandsman of the Year' trophy was awarded to soprano cornet player Paul Duffy, described by Dr Nicholas Childs as a real talent.

This coveted award is voted for by the players of the band, and reflects on a player who is held in consistently high esteem by their colleagues throughout the year.

Pondasher

The 'Pondasher Award' was presented to trombone player Garry Reed.

Garry lives in Teeside and is one of three players from the North East who travel approximately 200 miles round trip for each band rehearsal and engagement.

Dr Childs said that Garry was one of the players who attended every rehearsal and every engagement despite living so far away and it was this commitment which was being rewarded with the Pondasher Trophy.
