Troms to the fore at RNCM

Royal Northern College of Music set for Trombone Focus with star performers such as Chris Houlding and Ben van Dijk.

Sunday 22nd of February see's the RNCM play host to the International Trombone Focus Concert and Workshop.

The day will feature Ben van Dijk (Bass Trombone Rotterdam Philharmonic/Prof. Rotterdam Cons.), Niels Ole Bo Johansen (Prof.Arhus Academy, Denmark), Chris Houlding (Prof. Folkwang Hochschule, Essen/RNCM) and the RNCM Trombone Ensemble.

World Premiere

The day will feature a plethora of new works including a World Premiere of new work entitled 'Tell Me' for tenor and bass trombone by Ilja Reijngoud, featuring Chris Houlding and Ben van Dijk.

British Premiere

There will also be a British Premiere of new work for 2 trombones entitled 'Jericho 2.0' for 2 trombones and electronics by Wayne Siegel, Director of Danish Institute of Electronic Music, which will feature Niels Ole Bo Johansen and Chris Houlding.

The day will also feature solos played by Ben van Dijk, Niels Ole Bo Johansen & Chris Houlding, including music by Berio ('Sequenza V') and Hillborg ('Hautposaune').

Las Vegas

Music for trombone ensemble will include music by Bach, Revel and Wills & Mogensen (Ares Dreams of Love for 8 Trombones & Electronics).

The 'Grand Finale' will include warm-up workshops and a massed workshop and performance of ITF 2007 commission 'Las Vegas' for large trombone ensemble by Eric Crees.

Bilton Silver Rugby Band
