Results: Helston Solo & Quartet

There was a fine turn out of banding talent in Cornwall at the Helston Solo & Quartet contest.

Helston Town Band recently held its 52nd Annual Solo & Quartet Contest at Helston Community School with a fine turn out of 42 entries.

High standard

The adjudicator was Dr Chris Davis OBE, who commented that the playing throughout the day was of a high standard, in particular in the Junior classes. He was very encouraging to all the competitors and stressed how important it was to enjoy the experience of the performance irrespective of age and experience.

Best performances

Chloe George from Indian Queens Band won the award for the best performance in the Junior sections, and Kevin Johns from Helston Town Band won the award for the best performance of the day.

Helston Town Band would like to thank all the sponsors for the event, and in particular the main sponsor Kitchen & Brown, Chartered Accountants. The band would also like to thank Peter Luing, who was the official accompanist for the day, and Lionel Endean, the Contest Secretary, who has worked very hard in organising the whole event.
