Brindle takes up the baton

Former Black Dyke baritone star picks up residential baton with Rainford.

Rainford

Former Black Dyke baritone star Gareth Brindle has taken the first steps in a new musical direction with the news that he has become resident conductor at the Rainford Band.

No brainer

Commenting on the appointment, MD Neil Samuel told 4BR:"Unfortunately due to my work commitments I miss one or two rehearsals a month, so when I read that Gareth was in a similar predicament it seemed like a no brainer to offer him the position. It provides the band with a wonderful boost ahead of the Areas.ā€

Player boosts

A further twin player boost was also announced with former principal cornet player Mark Jones returning on solo cornet following a period when he played for Haydock and Leyland. Also returning to the ranks is solo trombone player Rachel Allen, who had taken time out to concentrate on preparing for college auditions.

Band Chairman Paul Rigby added: "Iā€™m looking forward to seeing these fine players taking the band forward this year. These are exciting times for our organisation.ā€
