Grimethorpe Colliery Band has announced that Brian Grant has been appointed Associate Conductor.

Chemistry

Director of Music, Dr Bob Childs told 4BR: "Brian has been working closely with me and the band for the past twelve months and there is a great chemistry between us all. I'm thrilled to have him on board in an official capacity."

Speaking about his appointment Brian added: "I've thoroughly enjoyed this last year working with Bob and the band. They are as busy as ever and playing superbly. I'm very happy to accept the role."

Concert dates

Brian recently led the band in a series of high profile concerts featuring the hugely popular Opera Babes and will lead Grimethorpe on several concert dates in 2016.

Outstanding

A spokesperson for the Grimethorpe Trustees added: "Everyone at Grimethorpe is looking forward to an enhanced musical team of Bob Childs and Brian Grant and hopes 2016 will be another outstanding year."
