A new brass band entertainment contest is set to take place next year as Derek Renshaw, in association with Stannington Brass Band launches,'The Brass Factor'.

The contest will be open to bands in Section 1 — 4, and, like a similarly named TV talent show, candid feedback will be provided after each performance by three judges.
The contest will be run over a number of weeks — with heats, semi finals and culminating in a grand final.

Derek told 4BR: "We’ve still to finalise some of the arrangements but we’ll announce further details in due course. In the meantime, we’d be pleased to hear from any band who might be interested in entering the contest".
