We got it wrong!

Correction of an inaccuracy in a recent news item.

Ossie Jellyman

We like to get our facts correct, but unfortunately we didn't quite get things right with a recent article.

Our news item in August said: "Ashley Gittins, Principal Euphonium for Brisbane Excelsior Band made history a few weeks ago after qualifying to be granted the Award of Fellowship in Music Australia (FMusA) by the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB), the first awarded for a performance on a brass band instrument."

A brass band enthusiast has brought to our attention the success of quiet achiever, Ossie Jellyman, who was in fact awarded a Fellowship in Music Australia from the Australian Music Examinations Board in 2002.

Ossie gave a one hour public performance on trombone and euphonium in the Melba Hall, University of Melbourne.

The works performed on trombone were Stardust, Sonatina by Serocki, and Concerto by Gordon Jacob, and on Euphonium, Fantasia by Gordon Jacob, Rangitoto by Goff Richards, and Party Piece by Phillip Sparke.

Our sincerest apologies for the error — and of course congratulations to both Ossie and Ashley.
