Heist hijack fifth title

Brass Band Heist are clebrating after claiming their fifth National title in Belgium.

Brass Band Heist has informed 4BR of its delight following their win at the Belgian Nationals on Sunday.

Five in a row

This band founded 5 years ago by MD Bert Van Thienen, made it five wins in a row at the contest with their latest success in the First Division, and they will now enter the Championship Section for 2010.

Impressive performances

The band produced two impressive performances of Royal Parks (Lloyd) and Sounds (Golland) and were rewarded by the judges with a convincing victory – and one that adds just the right touch of contesting icing on the cake after a year in which they were also crowned First Section World Champions too.

Wrist ache

It gave MD Bert Van Thienen something to take his mind off the tendonitis he is currently suffering in his right wrist – an injury that has almost caused him to now conduct left handed!

Headache

It also leaves the star soprano player with a bit of a headache too, as next year he will have to balance his conducting duties with Brass Band Heist and his playing ones with his long term association with Brass Band Willebroek in the top section

The band rounds off its year with a concert in a few weeks time with baritone star Katrina Marzella and making further contest appearances at the Flemish Open and hopefully, if they can raise the money, at the Grenland Festival in Norway.
