Michelmersh delight at recent successes

Michelmersh Silver has been having a good time of it of late.

Michelmersh Silver are celebrating their win in the First Section at the recent Wessex Contest under the baton of Melvin White.

The band's principal cornet Jan Boler also won the 'Best Solo Cornet' award in the section and Melvin White took home the 'Conductors Award' after the band's winning performance of 'The Saga Of Haakon The Good' by Philip Sparke.

This win follows an impressive 3rd place in the Open Section at the recent SWBBA Contest in Torquay.

Band Manager Martin Prince told 4BR, "The band have worked incredibly hard over the past few months in their preparation for the contests with both Melvin White and Roland Wright."

He added: "The victory bodes well for a busy 2010 contesting season, where the band will be looking to continue their progress in the First Section."
