Conducting duo for Mount Charles

Mount Charles set for 2010 under the command of Richard Evans and Phillip McCann.

Mount Charles

Mount Charles has announced its conducting plans for the 2010 season.

Yeovil return

Richard Evans will be taking the Cornish outfit at the season opening Yeovil contest, whilst Phillip McCann will direct their assault at the West of England Area and Grand Shield.

The band has also revealed that even with a busy contest and concert schedule they have accepted an invitation to attend the Grenland Festival in Norway later in the year.

Pleased

Chairman Derek Thomas told 4BR: "We are very pleased to be working alongside Richard again at the Yeovil contest, and he has selected a typically entertaining programme which the band are already enjoying!"

Phillip McCann is also looking forward to working with Mount Charles on 'English Heritage', a piece he enjoyed success with during his time conducting Sellers International.

We have signed some new players in the band, and after a break from contests, we feel ready to enjoy a successful 2010Chairman, Derek Thomas

Looking forward

Phillip told 4BR: "I'm really looking forward to working with the band. They have a wonderful set up which focuses quite correctly on a very strong youth development strategy. I believe they are an example of what the grass roots of brass banding should be about."

Derek Thomas added: "We have signed some new players in the band, and after a break from contests, we feel ready to enjoy a successful 2010."
