There was a surprise in store for members of the Longridge Band recently, as they took the opportunity to serenade diners at a local restaurant with Christmas carols.

As the band played their selection of popular items, they were surprised to find that one diner was enjoying it more than most — none other than Dr Roy Newsome.

The pressure was on for the band, but they were delighted that Roy took time out with his wife Muriel to accept the invitation to conduct a couple of items — all without a score too.
