Arklow Shipping Silver Band has announced the appointment of Brendan Breslin as their new Musical Director.

Musical influences

Brendan hails from Sion Mills, Co Tyrone, and attended St. Colman's High School, subsequently coming under the musical influence of the late Harry Gault, Terry Doherty and Colm Meyler.

In 2000 he began his studies in Queens University Belfast, specializing in performance and composition.

Music heard

Now a full-time professional musician, has been highly acclaimed for his compositional work, with ensembles across the country featuring his work and commissions.

His music has also been heard on television and radio, and has featured as the back-drop to shows in venues such as The National Concert Hall, Millenium Forum, Metropole (Cork Jazz Festival), as well as other theatre's across the country.
